friends of landseer park.

The People's park.

Landseer park is an area of open ground located to the south of the town of Ipswich in Suffolk UK. The area was once a very scenic natural valley with abundant wildlife and views to the river Orwell. However, the valley was used as the town's rubbish tip during the 1950s and 60s so that the impression of a valley is now mostly lost The park still retains a wooded area along its northern edge and recent continuing efforts have achieved increased planting and biodiversity. There is a very high quality children's playground to the Clapgate lane end of the park, and a highly successful 8 lane BMX track in the middle. Most of the area is still open grassland and used by dog walkers, joggers and local families.

The Friends of Landseer park is a local group of volunteers. The group's aim is to represent the wishes of local people, to actively seek funding, and work in partnership with the parks department of Ipswich Borough Council for the conservation and enhancement of the park.
